Real protection from the sun

UV-Resistant Water Tanks

Every Haggan tank has a UV-stabilized outer layer, built to take Egypt's harsh sun all year round without losing strength or cracking.

What does UV resistance actually mean?

Regular plastic left out in direct sun breaks down over time: UV rays make it brittle, prone to cracking, and cause discoloration. Haggan tanks use virgin, high-density polyethylene with an outer layer specifically treated to absorb that UV exposure instead of letting it degrade the tank's structure.

Why this matters long-term

Rooftop tanks sit in direct sunlight every day, for years. Without real UV resistance, the plastic gradually loses flexibility, which raises the odds of cracking and leaks, and it can affect the quality of the water sitting inside.

Backed by a genuine 15-year warranty

UV resistance is part of the written warranty that comes with every tank we sell. See the full warranty terms for the details.

Polyethylene vs. Standard Plastic

A precise comparison to help you understand why Haggan’s material is the smarter long-term choice.

Drinking-water safety
Algae & bacteria resistance

Polyethylene (Haggan) Standard / recycled plastic

The chart above is an illustrative visual rating reflecting the differences detailed in the table below, not an official lab test result.

Criteria Polyethylene (Haggan) Standard / Recycled Plastic
Base material 100% virgin, non-recycled polyethylene Often blended with recycled plastic
Drinking-water safety Fully food-safe, no taste or odor transfer Not always guaranteed, depends on source material
Algae & bacteria resistance High, thanks to a smooth, bright-white interior Moderate to weak
UV resistance Excellent, with UV-stabilized outer layers Weak, and prone to cracking over time
Expected lifespan 10-15+ years, with a written warranty Often under 10 years
Price Costs a bit more, but pays off over time Lower upfront cost
